Dinamalar was founded by T. V. Ramasubbaiyer. T. V. Ramasubbaiyer (1908–1984) started the news paper in Trivandrum in year 1951 to voice for the cause of merging of Tamil speaking southern region of India around Kanyakumari district with Madras presidency. The company has an approximately 1500 employees across its 10 centers.
